Hawkes Cidery & Taproom Launch
Tue 6th June
THE CIDER REVOLUTION HITS THE CAPITAL WITH LONDON’S FIRST URBAN CIDERY & TAPROOM
Hawkes is excited to announce the launch of the Hawkes Cidery & Taproom, London’s first ever urban cidery, and the latest step in our mission to change the face of UK cider forever.
Located on the famous ‘Bermondsey Beer Mile’ just off Maltby Street Market, our cidery is now officially open and set to be the heart and soul of craft cider production in London. Launching on the back of substantial external investment into our brand, the new premium production facility will enable Hawkes to explore and push the boundaries of modern cider making in a unique urban setting.
The dedicated cider taproom will be offering our ever-evolving menu of craft drinks including our flagship Urban Orchard and Ginger Beer products, alongside a range of guest UK and world craft ciders. As well as that, our new venue will also play host to a range of unique experiences that will bring the world of cider alive, including:
* Exclusive cider making workshops and tours with our Chief Cider Maker, walking through every aspect of our cider production and finishing with a complimentary tasting
* A small batch, research and development range, curated on-site and experimenting with unique blends and flavours, barrel aging cider and pushing product innovation
* Matching cider to food with an exclusive menu of stone baked pizzas specially designed to complement the draught ciders being served on tap
Since 2014 we’ve been on a journey to drive a revolution in a craft cider category which has been needlessly left trailing behind the likes of beer and spirits. Our first innovation saw us fight food waste using unloved and donated London apples in our cider, and now the first ever London cidery is ripping up the rule book to create the ultimate destination for cider lovers in the capital.
Simon Wright, Chief Hawker of Hawkes said:
“Cider has spent too long in the background, and that needs to end now. In building London’s first urban cidery we’ve created a place where people can fully immerse themselves in the true potential of cider, sample our world class liquids and learn how to make, taste and enjoy this wonderful drink.
The world of cider is so wonderful and diverse. That’s why we are calling on other cider makers to work with us to educate the masses on how they use their orchards and distinct fruit varieties to craft their own ciders. This is just the beginning, and we look forward to welcoming the public to the Hawkes Cidery & Taproom to play their part in the cider revolution.”
It's Apple Donor Weekend - Find your nearest #AppleDonor Station!
Sat 30th Sept until Sun 1st Oct
As we approach the end of September, our #AppleDonorWeekend is almost upon us! We are going to be celebrating at the Hawkes Cidery & Taproom with our epic apple pressing event – more details here so join us on Saturday!
But this is where it gets really epic. All over the capital this weekend, we have amazing community centres who have signed up as #AppleDonorStations to be big part of our festival. Taking part couldn’t be easier…
If you donate apples to your local station, then you will not only be helping to fight food waste, but also making a big contribution to your local project. For every apple donated, we will be buying them back from the #DonorStation at 20% above market value. Nice. To sweeten the deal, you will also receive a card from your station entitling you to 10% off at our Taproom – result!
There are some awesome events planned, so find your local station below, click on their name for more information, and we hope to see you there! You can also check out our handy map on the Apple Donors page:
