Wassail was the ancient Medieval ritual that pagans celebrated to awaken the cider tree gods and promote a good harvest. Today, we aren’t expecting you to dance around trees, but our twist on Wassail includes great live DJs, cracking craft cider and proper party!
We'll be open as usual on Saturday with the addition of our authentic Wassail Punch bowls, made using our Urban Orchard cider bases.
We'll also have some guest DJs joining us for the evening, so come and join us for the best free entry party in town!
The Hour of Power is Here!

Help us support the brilliant @Tryanuray campaign by trying something new this Jan! We're launching the "Hour of Power", 6-8pm every Weds-Fri, with selected ciders for just £3 a pint. So embrace #Tryanuary and support craft drinks!
Our new winter cider - Elephants On Ice!
11th November 2017
Today we are launching our brand new mulled winter cider - Elephants on Ice!
The winter of 1814 gave us London’s last ever Frost Fair, held on the frozen River Thames, and scene to probably its only elephant crossing. Today, scholars say the gathering would be seen as a cross between a street market and an illegal rave. We say that our Elephants on Ice cider is the perfect Hawkes homage to a long gone but awesome winter party.
Perfect served as a mulled cider, Elephants on Ice tastes just as good cold. Keep the party going by visiting the Taproom today!

Hawkes Cidery & Taproom Launch
Tue 6th June
THE CIDER REVOLUTION HITS THE CAPITAL WITH LONDON’S FIRST URBAN CIDERY & TAPROOM
Hawkes is excited to announce the launch of the Hawkes Cidery & Taproom, London’s first ever urban cidery, and the latest step in our mission to change the face of UK cider forever.
Located on the famous ‘Bermondsey Beer Mile’ just off Maltby Street Market, our cidery is now officially open and set to be the heart and soul of craft cider production in London. Launching on the back of substantial external investment into our brand, the new premium production facility will enable Hawkes to explore and push the boundaries of modern cider making in a unique urban setting.
The dedicated cider taproom will be offering our ever-evolving menu of craft drinks including our flagship Urban Orchard and Ginger Beer products, alongside a range of guest UK and world craft ciders. As well as that, our new venue will also play host to a range of unique experiences that will bring the world of cider alive, including:
* Exclusive cider making workshops and tours with our Chief Cider Maker, walking through every aspect of our cider production and finishing with a complimentary tasting
* A small batch, research and development range, curated on-site and experimenting with unique blends and flavours, barrel aging cider and pushing product innovation
* Matching cider to food with an exclusive menu of stone baked pizzas specially designed to complement the draught ciders being served on tap
Since 2014 we’ve been on a journey to drive a revolution in a craft cider category which has been needlessly left trailing behind the likes of beer and spirits. Our first innovation saw us fight food waste using unloved and donated London apples in our cider, and now the first ever London cidery is ripping up the rule book to create the ultimate destination for cider lovers in the capital.
Simon Wright, Chief Hawker of Hawkes said:
“Cider has spent too long in the background, and that needs to end now. In building London’s first urban cidery we’ve created a place where people can fully immerse themselves in the true potential of cider, sample our world class liquids and learn how to make, taste and enjoy this wonderful drink.
The world of cider is so wonderful and diverse. That’s why we are calling on other cider makers to work with us to educate the masses on how they use their orchards and distinct fruit varieties to craft their own ciders. This is just the beginning, and we look forward to welcoming the public to the Hawkes Cidery & Taproom to play their part in the cider revolution.”
